Supplemental Education Services Supplemental Education Services (SES)

Under Title l, Part A, of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), students from low income families attending schools that do not make adequate yearly progress for three consecutive years (i.e., schools are in their second year of improvement) may receive supplemental education services (SES).  States are responsible for identifying eligible SES providers. Parents choose the SES Provider for their children from among the providers approved by the state for their school district.

Sequatchie County High School is in School Improvement 2-Improving.  Under NCLB, SCHS is required to offer SES to eligible students.

School year 2010-2011, 400 students were eligible for Supplemental Services and 9 students began SES. Two different companies were selected by parents: Babbage Net Schools and Sylvan Learning of Chattanooga.

School year (Fall) 2011-2012, 340 students were eligible for Supplemental Services and 5 students signed up for SES.  Two companies were selected by parents: 24 Hour Tutoring and ATS Project Success.

Questions about Supplemental Education Services (SES) can be directed to Rhonda Harmon, Federal Programs Director, 423-949-3617 or harmonr@k12tn.net
