Welcome to the Sequatchie County School System! We are a unified district committed to providing a high-quality education to our students through three schools. Our system is governed by a dedicated nine-member school board, elected by the community, and led by a Director of Schools appointed by the board.

Nestled in the heart of the stunning Sequatchie Valley, our country is surrounded by the breathtaking bluffs of the Cumberland Plateau, just 30 miles northwest of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The county has a rich history and strong traditions, with a landscape that includes waterfalls, rivers, forests, and lakes. The natural beauty of the area provides endless opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, canoeing, and hang gliding. Dunlap, the county seat, is often called “The Southern Gateway to Fall Creek Falls State Park.”

Farming and coal mining once played a central role in the local economy, but the community has grown into a diverse business center that includes manufacturing, retail, and tourism. Many residents commute to Chattanooga for work. The county offers a wide range of services, including: a public health department, emergency response teams, a library, walking trails, parks, and an active chamber of commerce.

At Sequatchie County Schools, we are dedicated to academic excellence, community involvements, and providing diverse opportunities for all students. With strong support from the community and a commitment to preparing students for the future, we strive to create a safe, enriching, and inspiring learning environment.
