My last name is a Spanish phrase – “a la torre”, meaning “to the tower”. The official pronunciation is "au-la-TOR-ray", however, we pronounce it "al-uh-TOR-ree", which sounds more Italian than Spanish.  I attended Auburn University and later transferred to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. My husband and I have three adult children and are now also proud grandparents.  We moved to Dunlap nine years ago from Knoxville and both enjoy working in education.
