Brave-O Award Recipients! - May 8th, 2026

Each week, SCMS recognizes students who go above and beyond in academics, attitude, and character with the Bravo-O Award. These students exemplify what it means to be a Bravo, showing dedication, kindness, and perseverance in everything they do. Join us in celebrating this week's outstanding recipients! Aliyah Morey (5th Grade) - Nominated by Wendy Miller

I am honored and privileged to award my last Brave-O of the year to Aliyah Morey. I believe that it is only fitting to award a student such as Aliyah this time. I hope it is a memory you will remember as you continue your education. You may be my last Brave-O of the year, but you are always remembered on on time. Aliyah, thank you for demonstrating Brave-O expectations. You are always respectful, responsible, and safe. I appreciate your leadership and willingness to lead with a SCMS Brave attitude. Aliyah, I encourage you to continue being you and always remember who you are, you are a leader.

Melody Hickey (6th Grade) - Nominated by Shanene Tolliver

If you are ever in need of a personal cheer leader, or a pick-me-up...this is your girl! Melody loves to cheer anyone on. She loves to see her classmates succeed and is a friend to anyone who needs one. Her positivity and kindness go a long way. she is always there with a smile to encourage me, or a comment to make me chuckle. Melody, keep being you!

Logan Ivey (7th Grade) - Nominated by Stacey Smith

Brave-O's are awarded to students in the middle of adolescence -- a challenging roller coaster to say the least. But success follows if lessons are learned during the ride, and the spirit is willing to be its best with each sunrise. This week's Brave-O is a young man I have known since 5th grade, and he has proven to be respectful, helpful, open to risk taking, and helping others. He is one of my most consistent participants.

When he makes a mistake he consistently works to improve. I will truly miss his presence in class next year. Eighth grade is gaining a winner in my book Brave-O Logan Ivey.

Kenra Dunstan (8th Grade) - Nominated by Kim Lassiter

Even though this student came to our school late in the school year, she has been able to fit in, make friends, and complete assignments! I hope she has enjoyed her year here in Sequatchie County Middle School, and I hope she enjoys Sequatchie County High School just as much! Good luck in whatever you intend to do Kendra Dustan.

Calvin Tillman (8th Grade) - (Related Arts) Nominated by Misty Young

Hardworking, polite, and always respectful, Calvin shows that leadership doesn't always have to be loud. I can't wait to see what your future holds, I know you will be successful, no matter what it is!
